Socorro wrapped up its 2023 baseball season with a pair of losses to Gallup on April 29, as the Bengals escaped town with 4-0 and 13-3 wins. A young Warrior baseball team ends its year at 2-21-1.

The Lady Warriors softball team continued pounding at the plate, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Hot Springs as Socorro dropped a doubleheader against the Tigers 15-14 and 18-12.

The Lady Warriors established a 13-9 lead after three innings, but Hot Springs chipped away at Socorro’s lead and used a three-run fifth inning to take a 15-14 win. Socorro’s Tatjana Castillo, Abrianna Romero, Jisela Estrada and Felicity Otero collected two hits each, while Jasmin Alvarado, Morgan Perkins, Shiloh Rosas and Tristen Garcia had one. Thalia Acosta added one run for Socorro.

Socorro scored three runs in the seventh inning, but the Lady Warriors’ rally fell short in an 18-12 loss. Garcia, Castillo, Rosas and Sasha Gonzales collected two hits each.

The Lady Warriors ended their season on a high note when it came to hitting the softball and finishing with a 3-6 record in District 3-3A play and 4-21 overall
