More than $12 million in capital outlay projects for Socorro schools, city and county was approved by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham during the 56th Legislature this project.

Twenty-one different projects will see upgrades for various projects.

The City of Socorro, was awarded financial assistance for the following projects:
1. $700,000 for Eagle Pilcher Superfund site buildings.
2. $865,000 for continued improvements with the Finley gym complex.
3. $250,000 for the Socorro Rodeo Complex sound equipment.
4. $383,000 for Sedillo Park LED lights purchase.

Three funded projects in Socorro County include:
1. $250,000 for improvement of Socorro County Courthouse windows and doors.
2. $300,000 to build a yard at the Socorro County Detention Center.

Socorro Consolidated School District will receive funding for three capital outlay projects. Those projects include:
1. $170,000 for Socorro High School building and grounds drainage system connections.
2. $250,000 for Cottonwood Valley Charter School for building and ground improvements.

The Village of Magdalena will receive more than $600,000 for four different projects. Those projects are:
1. $200,000 for emergency generators equipment.
2. $85,000 for deck replacement at the Magdalena Public Library.
3. $85,000 for HVAC improvement and replacement at the Magdalena Public Library.
4. $370,000 for the construction of the Trujillo well construction.

New Mexico Tech was granted more than $5 million dollars for Capital Outlay Projects. Money granted includes:
1. $1,450,000 for equipment purchases.
2. $3,500,000 for phase one construction of Kelly Hall.
3. $250,000 Miners fabrication lab equipment purchase.
4. $80,000 for vehicle purchase.

Other projects receiving funding in Socorro County include:
1. $750,000 for improvements to Escondida Lake Park improvements.
2. $150,000 for a Miners Memorial construction
3. $250,000 for an Emergency Operations center
4. $2,000,000 for Socorro Fire Training Academy renovations
5. $250,000 for improvements on Interstate 25 exits 147 and 150.
