The Socorro Lady Warriors take off during the girls’ varsity race at the Socorro Sports Complex on Friday afternoon. NMMI placed first with Hot Springs in second and Socorro placed third.

On Friday, the Socorro cross country team held their district championships at the Socorro Sports Complex which included the New Mexico Military Institute, Hot Springs and Tucumcari.

NMMI and Hot Springs qualified for the state cross country championships as a team in both the girls and the boys races. In the boys race, NMMI won with 11 points and Hot Springs claimed second with 25 points. NMMI took first in the girls race with 12 points, Hot Springs placed second with 29 points and Socorro finished third with 37 points.

Socorro qualified Sky Sessions and Maddie Bennett for the girls race and Luther Richardson and Robinson Ford in the boys race.

Luther Robinson took seventh in the boys race and qualified for the state championships with is time of 23:05.40.
