Travelers heading past the City of Socorro’s convention center will be seeing a new addition in the future.

Last week Socorro City Council approved an outdoor digital messaging sign to be placed on convention center property along Highway 60.
Four bids were opened on October 31, with the lowest bid submitted by United Signs for $54,300. Other bids included Complete Signs for $65,695; FOCUS, $70,912 and Zeon Signs, for $59,715.

In other business, council:

Deemed the following items as surplus items and no longer required for city operations and will be disposed by private sale, bid, exchange or donation: two 2009 Peterbilt garbage trucks; 1995 and a 1998 International Dump truck; and a 2003 Freightliner dump truck.

Approved 13 new business registrations for the following businesses: Los Pino’s Care LLC (childcare), Unruly Bully Kennel LLC (dog breeding kennel – transport services), 801 Entertainment (entertainment company), Mountain West Golfscapes, Inc. (landscape construction), Keri’s Salon (beauty shop), AAA Welding (welding services), Hospitality Network, LLC (wi-fi equipment support), Joan Eckman Artist (still life oriental paintings), Ameresco, Inc. (energy solutions), Albuquerque Asphalt (construction), La Feu Follet Cajan Food (food prep for farmer’s market), Melyssa’s Wild West (Western Wear store) and Red and Green Chile (restaurant).
