The following items were taken from reports at the Socorro Police Department

Mar. 8

An officer was called at 7:42 p.m. to the scene of a vehicle crashing into a ditch at Leroy and Mary Place. The officer met with a witness, who stated the vehicle fled the scene northbound. The officer located the car on the ditch bank with heavy damage and ensured the driver was OK. The driver admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the night. The officer had the driver perform Standard Field Sobriety Tests, which he failed. He was arrested and transported to SCDC, where he was booked on his charges.

An officer was called at 12:41 p.m. to the 800 block of Spring Street in reference to a theft. The officer met with the victim, who stated one of his tenants took part of the handicap steps belonging to the residence. The officer advised the victim the incident was civil. The victim requested the incident be documented.

An officer called at 6:41 p.m. to the Chevron station on Highway 85 in reference to embezzlement. The reporting person claimed two of her employees have been making fraudulent returns to the store and using the money to purchase lottery tickets. The total is approximately $7,000. The reporting person stated there were no cameras in the building.

Mar. 9

An officer was called back to the police station at 4:44 p.m. to speak with a female over the phone. The officer contacted the victim, who stated somebody had obtained her credit card information and made fraudulent charges to her account. The officer contacted the loss prevention manager, who said the business would be emailing a video. The officer has not received the video at the time of the report.

Mar. 10

An officer was called at 10:12 p.m. to the 800 block of Spring Street regarding property damage. The officer met with the victim, who stated he was contacted by a tenant who informed him of another tenant damaging his property. The victim said he met with the suspect, who admitted to damaging the property. He wanted to press charges on the suspect.

An officer was called at 10:53 p.m. to a residence on El Camino Real in reference to damage to property. The victim informed the officer that the suspect had left the area in a vehicle. The officer located the suspect’s vehicle and performed a traffic stop. The suspect stated he was at the residence attempting to pick up his adult disabled daughter and did not damage anything. The officer met with the victim who stated he wanted to press charges against the suspect due to him damaging his vehicle. The victim said he witnessed the suspect damage his vehicle. The officer met with the female, who stated she did not want to go with the suspect and wanted to stay where she was.

An officer was patrolling at 11 p.m. and was approached by the victim who stated she was at a residence when the suspect became upset, making her want to leave. When she got into her vehicle to go, the suspect approached and kicked her car. He then picked up a large rock and hit the vehicle with it. The victim stated she would like to press charges against the suspect. The suspect was charged with criminal damage to property.

An officer was called to the police station at 11:30 a.m. to speak with a female who wanted to report that she had lost her ID card.

An officer was called to the police station at 10 a.m. to speak with a male who wanted to turn over drug paraphernalia he found in a vehicle driven by the suspect the day prior. The officer documented the incident and placed the items in evidence.

Mar. 11

An officer was dispatched to the San Miguel Inn motel for a trespasser. The officer met with the owner, who no longer wanted a male on the property. The male was told he was not wanted on the property and advised he was trespassed.

An officer was dispatched to Burger King and met with the manager, who said an ex-employee had gone into the restroom to smoke drugs. The manager told the ex-employee he needed to leave, and after he left, he checked the restroom and noticed the soap dispenser was missing. The manager said he went looking for the male and told him he was no longer allowed at Burger King. He gave the officer the ex-employee’s information and said he wanted the incident on file.

An officer met with a male victim at 9:06 a.m., who said he was assaulted by another male for talking about his girlfriend. He did not want to file charges but did want a report on the incident.

An officer was dispatched at 3:17 p.m. to an apartment in the 800 block of Spring Street and contacted the victim, who stated he felt unsafe after an individual who lives in another apartment knocked on his door, saying he was going to kill his dog and send him to the hospital. The officer knocked on the suspect’s door but was told by a neighbor the suspect was seen stepping out of his room with his bike. The officer searched, but no contact was made with the suspect. The officer was dispatched to the same address later, where the victim said the suspect returned, knocked on his door, and stated he was going to send him to the hospital. The officer knocked on the suspect’s door again but was unsuccessful in making contact. The victim said he wanted to press charges, but the only information he could provide was the suspect’s first name. The officer was not able to file charges at this point until the male could be identified.

Mar. 12

An officer was dispatched at 7:20 p.m. to the 500 block of Manzanares to speak with the reporting party, who stated her daughter had drug paraphernalia in the home and she did not want her in the house. The officer met with the daughter, who was standing by the mailboxes. She was known to the officer as having an outstanding warrant out of 7th District Court and was arrested and consequently booked into Socorro County Detention Center.

Officers were requested at 2:36 p.m. to Best Western because a dog had just bitten a guest. The officer made contact with the victim, who was sitting in the lobby. She stated that as she was walking down the hallway on her way to the lobby for breakfast, a brown and black medium-sized dog came out of a room and bit her on the right knee. After speaking with the victim, the officer contacted the dog’s owner, who was in her vehicle with the dog. She stated her boyfriend had stepped out of the room and may not have closed the door, allowing the dog to leave. She was unable to provide any shot record or rabies shot for the dog. The victim told the officer she wanted to press charges and would be seeking medical attention at Socorro General Hospital’s ER. The dog’s owner was advised to find the dog’s shot record, and that charges will be filed.

An officer was dispatched at 12:12 p.m. to Valero for a theft. The reporting party stated an unknown male suspect pumped $20 worth of gas and picked up a few items. He attempted to use a card for payment but left before the transaction went through. The only description given about the suspect was a Hispanic male about 5’11 and driving a 90s white Lincoln Town car which headed North on Interstate-25. The officer called it in to dispatch, and the information was relayed to New Mexico State Police. There was no video at this time or a license plate.

Mar. 13

An officer called to the 200 block of School of Mines in reference to a female breaking into the home. The female victim of the residence had left and was found by the officer walking down the road. The officer then located a male matching the description given by dispatch and detained him. The victim said when she came home, she saw what she believed to be a woman in the residence. The reporting person gave the officer the description of the individual, and the male located by the officer matched the clothing description. The male was placed under arrest and transported to SCDC, where he was booked for breaking and entering.

An officer was dispatched at 11:43 a.m. to a residence in the 1100 block of Sean Avenue and met with a female, who said her vehicle had been rummaged through. She stated nothing was missing but wanted a report.

An officer was dispatched to Fifth Street on the report of an unresponsive male. The male showed no signs of life, and EMT advised he was deceased. OMI was called and conducted their investigation. Daniels Funeral Home took possession of the body, and his belongings were given to his sister at Socorro Police Department.

An officer patrolling at 3:43 a.m. observed an ATV traveling at a high rate of speed on California. It turned off California, and the officer heard the sound of its engine coming from the area of Blue Canyon Road. The officer arrived at Blue Canyon and observed dust clouds near San Miguel Cemetery. As the officer got closer, the engine’s sound stopped as if the quad was turned off. It was located near the fence line of the cemetery and Mustang Drive. Its ignition had been tampered with, and no one was nearby. The quad was seized and taken to the Socorro Police Department. At approximately 6:30 p.m., the officer met with a male who owned the ATV. He said the ATV was stolen from his residence at approximately 1:30 a.m. He took possession of the quad.

An officer was dispatched at 6:15 p.m. to Days Inn for a trespassing. The reporting party told the officer a male who she has already told multiple times to stay off the property, keeps returning and attempting to steal things and break into property on the grounds. The officer watched the video and recognized the male. The reporting party was advised to call 911 if he returned to the property,

An officer was dispatched at 4:37 p.m. to a residence in the 800 block of Spring Street for mail theft. The victim said someone had taken her box of frozen meals. A witness told the officer a male who lives in the apartment complex confided to her he was going through the victim’s mail and taking the food. The officer tried to interview the suspect, but he would not open the door. A charge of larceny was filed against the suspect.

An officer was dispatched at 8:42 p.m. to the Walmart parking lot where a male was saying he wanted to turn himself in before he hurt someone. The officer met with him, and during the interview, he became angry with his mother and struck her in the chest and shoulder area. He was arrested and taken for medical clearance. After being cleared, he was incarcerated at the Socorro County Detention Center on the charge of domestic violence – battery.

Mar. 14

An officer was dispatched at 4:44 p.m. to a residence in the 300 block of Faulkner regarding criminal damage to property. The reporting party showed the officer a shed that had been damaged. The officer noticed the damage, but no entry into the shed was made.
