Phillip Dano of Socorro, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024, at the age of 81 years old, at The Retreat memory care facility in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, with his family by his side. Phil is survived by his son (Mike), daughter-in-law (Kathy), and two grandchildren (Owen and Lila).

Born in 1942, Phil grew up in Arizona with his parents, Bud (DeBou) and Eleanor. Phil received a degree in business from Arizona State University before enlisting in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. After the war, Phil briefly worked for Garret and Motorola before returning to school for a degree in Forestry from Northern Arizona University. Phil worked for the US Forest Service for 35 years, eventually serving as a forest ranger with the Magdalena Ranger District in New Mexico.

Phil loved the outdoors and helped to pass that love on to his son and his grandchildren. He also loved classic automobiles, fully restoring a 1968 Ford Mustang that has now passed through four generations of family.

Phil is interred at Santa Fe National Cemetery. His family will hold a small service on April 27.
