Bessie Apachito

Sunrise: January 23, 1933 – Sunset: September 23, 2021.

Bessie A. Apache was born and raised in Alamo, NM. She passed away surrounded by her Son and Daughters on September 23, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her Parents Johnson Apachito and Helen Guerro Apachito; Husband Nelson Apache; Son Jimmy Apache; Daughters MarAgree Apache, Anna Apache Smiley, and Geraline Apache Russell; Granddaughter Rayne Begay; Great-Granddaughter Qila Smiley; Brothers Gene Apachito, Willie Apachito, Bennie Apachito, Ray Apachito, and Jessie Apachito; Sisters Agnes Apachito and Gladys Baca.

She is survived by her Daughters Mary Apache Lee (Pete); Margie Apache (Melvin); and Lavell Apache.  Her Sons Johnson Apache (Hye Cha) and Ricky Apache (Connie); 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Bessie is in heaven flying high with the angels. Her wings were ready, but our hearts were not. She was an amazing woman with a Heart of Gold. She would do anything she could for anyone. She lived simple and worked hard.

She loved animals and had many. She got up early every morning and took care of each one of them.

Bessie was a beautiful rug weaver. All of her rugs were hand-made on a loom built for her by her husband Nelson.  She made the best fried bread.

She loved spending time with her family and always had good advice to give. She had a positive attitude toward life and people. She was a respected elder in the Alamo community and was thought of as a mother and grandmother to many. She will be missed by so many.
