The Socorro Chapter of Disabled American Veterans is back open, according to DAV member Peter Romero.

“The DAV is trying to get back in the saddle again and get things opened up here,” Romero said. “This includes providing help and information for veterans as needed.”

A major service of the chapter is providing rides to the VA hospital in Albuquerque.

“To schedule to be picked up for a ride, vets can call the DAV at 575-835-0843,” he said. “They can also call our drivers, Gordy Hicks directly at 505-621-2020, or E.F.  Wade at 636-399-5136.”

DAV member meetings have been put on hold since the beginning of the pandemic, but Romero said there will be a meeting this month.

“We’re going to have our first official meeting after a year of being closed on Tuesday, April 13,” Romero said. “Meetings will resume on the second Tuesday of the month at the DAV chapter at 200 N. Fifth Street.”
