From the Climate Change Panel to the Art Exhibit, from studio and business open houses to the Saturday seminars and booths in and around Macy Center, WomenFest was a remarkable showcase of the talent, intellect and many pursuits of Socorro County women. The energy was contagious – a true celebration.

Kudos to Ronna Kalish who envisioned WomenFest and to all who planned and participated … and there were many including the overall planning committee, the Art Exhibit Committee and the community and NMT chapters of AAUW. There are too many to acknowledge in this editorial but I must highlight the WomenFest Committee: Dana Chavez, Gloria Gutierrez-Anaya, B.J. Lesperance, Lynette Napier, Janice Havlena, Chelsea Hargather, Melissa Begay and Tara Jaramillo.  Thank you all!!  Thanks also to El Defensor Chieftain for your coverage.

WomenFest was a great event like so many others – e.g. Arts Party and Octoberfest – that Ronna has led the way on and it is my hope that WomenFest will also become an annual feature of the Socorro County calendar. In this small way, I recognize Ronna Kalish as a community treasure.
