Peggy Hutcherson

January 1, 1934–May 12, 2021

Peggy Belle Nourse Foard Hutcherson, age 87, passed away May 12, 2021, at her home in Luis Lopez, New Mexico.

She was beloved by all who knew her and were touched by her warmth and compassion.  Peggy was born in Magdalena, New Mexico on January 1, 1934, to Jim and Ellena Nourse.  She lived for many years in Hardin, Montana and Socorro, New Mexico.  Her later years were spent in Holbrook, Arizona.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Claudette Gallegos of Luis Lopez, New Mexico, and son, Claud Foard of Hereford, Texas.  They loved and cherished her dearly and could not have asked for a more wonderful mother.

She is also survived by her step-daughter Sheila Mallory, her 6 grandchildren:  Arlinda (Eduardo) Coronado, Daniel (Connie) Gallegos, Janella (Daniel) Barela, J.C. Foard, Maren Mallory and Preston Mallory, 11 great-grandchildren, and 6 great, great-grandchildren, also her two sisters, Betty Melsen and Bootsie (Matt) Williams, 2 brothers, Jim Nourse and Jeff (Phillis) Nourse, sisters-in-law Reatha Pack and Barbara Foard, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.

What a legacy to leave.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Claud Foard and Warren Hutcherson, her parents, her sisters Jacque Foard Poor and Kay Knoblock Cox, her son-in-law Amado Gallegos, and daughter-in-law June Foard.

Being a child of the Great Depression toughened her spirit for the many challenges she encountered in her life’s journey.  Peggy was rarely idle.  She loved ceramics, sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, yard work, happy family times, making a beautiful home and at the same time doing all that cowboy work that is never finished.

She cherished her years as a cowboy’s wife and playing good country music on her guitar with her husband, Claud, by her side.

She also lived the ranch life with her second husband, Warren Hutcherson, until his death.

Graveside services will be held at the Datil Cemetery in Datil, New Mexico on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 11:00 am.  Pallbearers are her great-grandsons:  Dylan Gallegos, Ty Foard, Jeremy Gallegos, TJ Foard, Caleb Chavez, and Andres Coronado.

To those of you who knew Peggy you knew the heart of a generous, loving, caring and incredibly strong lady.

God speed, Mom, you have more than earned your place among the blessed.
