Led by Abby Cadol’s ninth-place finish, the Lady Warriors cross country team placed fifth at Belen’s Adron Gardner Classic on Sept. 23.

The Warriors took sixth place as Rylan Timmons shattered his personal-best time by four minutes. He was followed closely by teammates Timur Aitbayev and Daniel Bowles.

The girls varsity team placed 5th and was led by Abby Cadol (9th) and Sky Sessions (19th).

The girls junior varsity team placed second with season-best times for all members of the team. Andrew Moellenbrock and Vinny Sanchez set season-best times in the boys JV race. All-time 5k personal best times were set by Abby Cadol, Kailyn Woods, Esther Gutierrez, Gilbert Armijo, Rylan Timmons, Liam Demorest, and Timur Aitbayev.

Alamo Football

The Cougars took it on the chin as they opened District 2 eight-man football with a 54-0 loss to Lordsburg on Sept. 22 to drop their record to 0-5.

Alamo Navajo has two straight home games with a 5 p.m. start against Mesilla Valley Christian School on Friday. The Cougars will have a bye the following week before hosting Magdalena on Oct. 19 in a 5 p.m. contest.

Alamo Volleyball

The Lady Cougars are 7-1 in regular season games and have established the best volleyball record in Socorro County. Alamo Navajo will get some tournament experience in Reserve to close out the month.

Fans wanting to catch the Lady Cougars at home will get that chance on back-to-back dates with an Oct. 6 match against Carrizozo at 4 p.m. and again on Saturday, Oct. 7, when Rehoboth Christian visits for a 1 p.m. match.
