Athlete of the Week: Alexandra Martinez

Alex Martinez has been a key rim protector for the Lady Warriors during the 2021-22 season.

Alexandra Martinez is a junior starter for the Socorro Warriors basketball team. Alexandria will be guarding the paint for the Lady Warriors all season long.

Question: How long have you been playing basketball?

Answer: I’ve been playing since around 16. My family is very big on sports. I went into AAU with the city and just carried on from there.

Q: Are there any other sports you play?

A: I do golf and track as well. My best sports are basketball and golf as those two are the ones I have been involved with the most.

Q: Who has the coolest jerseys, other than Socorro, you have seen?

A: I really like the Bernalillo (Spartans) jerseys. I like the design on the sides being a cool type of spatter.

Q: What is your favorite sport that you do not play?

A: Probably football. My family always watches it, so I kind of got into it that way.

Q: What is your favorite Olympic sport?

A: It would have to be track/running. The 100m or 200m. They’re just so fast. It simply amazes me.

Q: Who is your favorite athlete?

A: I’m not sure, that’s tough. I guess I’ll go with Kobe (Bryant). He was undeniably the best.

Q: If you could have dinner with one famous person in history, who would it be?

A: I’m trying to think of a funny person. Fluffy (Gabriel Iglesias). I feel like that would be a fun night hanging out with that guy.
