Betty Jean Trujillo

1940-2023

Betty Trujillo has been a resident of Las Cruces, NM on two occasions and recently since 2013 and formally a long-time resident of Socorro, NM passed away on June 7, 2023. She was born on June 18, 1940, in Deming, NM and raised in Deming and was one of four children.

Betty is survived by her children; son, Steve Trujillo and his wife Elisa of Missouri City, TX; daughter, Cynthia Trujillo of Ballwin, MO; her grandchildren, Samuel Trujillo of Missouri City, TX and Alexandra Trujillo of Portland, Oregon; brother, Isaac (Manny) Flores of Greensboro, NC. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Isaac and Mary Flores; brother, Frank Flores, and sister, Helen Ochoa.

Betty graduated from Deming High School in 1960, and married her high school sweetheart, Danny. Danny and Betty lived in Las Cruces until they moved to Salt Lake City in 1972. Their move back to New Mexico was in 1974, to Socorro, NM where they lived until 2013 and resided in Las Cruces since. Betty was able to live with her son and daughter-in-law for the past seven months spending time with her beloved family in Missouri City, TX.

Betty worked for the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Socorro from October 1980 thru June 2005 when she retired and where she played a critical role as Administrative Assistant to two Directors. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi in Socorro from 1975 thru 2013 where she was actively involved with her sorority sisters.

Recitation of the Holy Spirit will begin at 10 A.M. Friday, July 7, 2023, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1240 S. Espina, Las Cruces and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. The Rite of Committal and Internment will take place at 2 P.M. at Mountain View Cemetery, Deming where she will be laid to rest in the family plot.
