The following items were taken from reports at the Socorro Police Department

Aug. 17

An officer dispatched at 2:55 a.m. to a residence in the 1100 block of Chaparral for a domestic in progress. The female victim was bleeding from her mouth and said she was hit in the mouth two or three times by her girlfriend. The officer met with the female suspect who said the victim came towards her, so she hit her. Both parties were intoxicated. The suspect was arrested and incarcerated at Socorro County Detention Center.

A victim was driving past California and Manzanares at 10:37 a.m. when someone cutting weeds with a weed trimmer caused a rock to fly up and hit the passenger side window. The officer spoke with the male cutting weeds when a rock was struck and flew into the window of the victim’s vehicle. The officer documented the incident.

A caller reported at 7:47 p.m. that her son was not at the location the suspect was supposed to be and wanted her son listed as missing. The officers were able to locate the son at a residence on Santa Fe Lane, and he was returned home by a deputy. The mother said he was told he could stay overnight at the home on Santa Fe Lane. The son also had police contact the week prior. He was advised he needed to listen to his mother and guardian. The son was released to his mother and was not entered into NCIC because he was located quickly.

A female in the 1100 block of California called 911 several times throughout the night for a non-emergency incident. The officer was able to locate the suspect at 10:54 p.m. after the last call. The suspect said she lost her flashlight and needed help. The suspect was arrested and taken to the police department. At the police department, she ran from an officer out the east door but was captured by another officer in the parking lot. She was processed and booked into the SCDC. A call log of 12 911 calls was made by the suspect.

Aug. 18

A caller in the 300 block of Otero reported there was a female on the property after being trespassed several times. The officer arrived and the suspect was in the shower. She was told to exit the apartment. The suspect exited the home and was placed under arrest. She was processed and booked at SCDC.

A victim in the 700 block of Bursum reported that the windshield wiper on their vehicle was bent upwards and the victim suspects neighbors who are in the process of moving out. There were no witnesses to the incident.

A caller in the 500 block of Highway 60 reported leaving the trailer park shelter when a male approached and began touching and grabbing at her. The caller said the male grabbed her breast and body. The officer met with the male who denied touching the female and was arguing with her. The officer viewed a video of the incident showing the male and female caller in an argument. The caller left down the alley and the male stayed at the shelter with other subjects. The male was not seen entering the alleyway where the incident occurred. No charges will be filed.

A caller from Quick & Easy reported completing an inventory on U-Haul equipment and fo9und one tow dolly valued at $1,500 was missing. The caller provided a VIN, and the tow dolly was entered into NCIC as stolen. The caller said they may have video of the incident and would turn that over to the police at a later date once it was located.

Aug. 19

Officers were called to a home in the 700 block of Grant Street for someone yelling. The officers arrived and contacted the resident. The female said everything was fine and her kids were playing. The officers were invited into the home and completed a home visit. There were no crimes committed. The female believed her old neighbors were calling in the complaints trying to get her in trouble. The female asked that the contact be documented.

A victim was notified by the Best Western hotel staff that the victim’s vehicle window was damaged. The victim checked the vehicle and noticed several musical instruments were missing. The victim provided a list of the stolen items. Two ukuleles valued at $75 each; a guitar and case valued at $105; and a piano keyboard valued at $40. There were no cameras in the area that would assist in identifying a suspect.

An officer was called to court to arrest the male suspect, who was upset over being ordered to jail. The suspect attempted to exit the courtroom and had to be restrained. The officer was told the suspect struck another officer while being arrested. As the officers were escorting the suspect outside, the suspect struck the patrol car. He was placed in the patrol car and continued to resist, kicking at the officer and kicking an assisting officer in the chest. The suspect was processed at the police department and later booked into the SCDC.

An officer was called to Best Western for an unresponsive male where the cleaning staff located the male in his room and called for an ambulance. The ambulance checked the male and found him deceased. The officer checked the room and found a note left by the victim. The officer located a liquor bottle and foils with drug residue. The OMI staff was called in and processed the area. The victim was taken to a local funeral home before being taken to the Office Of the Medical investigator to determine the official cause of death. A backpack, the note, and the victim’s personal property were removed from the room.

Officers were called to John Brooks at 12:42 p.m. for a male running out of the store after shoplifting a case of lighters. The officers were provided with a video of the incident showing the suspect taking a new box of lighters and concealing them in his pants. The suspect is seen running from the staff and exiting the store. The suspect was identified, and charges were filed.

A suspect at Economy Inn was contacted at 9:23 p.m. for calling 911 several times and reporting incidents that were not occurring. The suspect was told not to call 911 to report an incident that was not occurring. The suspect was arrested and booked into SCDC.

Aug. 20

An officer was called at 6:31 p.m. to the 1200 block of Santa Fe Lane in reference to a burglary. The victim said she received a call from somebody stating a female was parked in the driveway of her residence. She said when she arrived at her residence, she saw that items in her residence had been moved and appeared to be ready for somebody to take. The victim then went to the area where she knew the female would be and while meeting with the female, she believes she noticed an item from her residence in the female’s vehicle. She told the officer she went back to her residence and began looking through her residence.

A man reported dropping his wallet at Capitol bar. The wallet contained his driver’s license, Passport card, EBT card, Presbyterian Insurance card, NMT student ID card, a debit card, and $150 in cash. The officer was able to view a video showing a male suspect seeing the wallet fall and walking up behind the victim and picking up the wallet. The suspect returned to his seat for a few minutes then left the bar. The officers were not able to identify the suspect in the video.

Aug. 21

An officer was called at 7:26 a.m. to the 300 block of California in reference to a stolen license plate. The victim noticed the license plate missing earlier this morning while at his residence. He provided the officer with vehicle and license plate information. The plate was entered into NCIC as stolen.

An officer was patrolling in the area of South Main Street at 12:47 p.m. and noticed a female who he had prior knowledge of having a warrant for her arrest. The officer turned the patrol vehicle around and saw her attempting to run. The officer saw her run down Tierra Bonita and get into the rear door of a vehicle. She was detained and placed in handcuffs and transported and booked into SCDC.

An officer was called to the 400 block of El Camino Real scene for a female breaking windows with rocks. She was trying to leave the area when the officer arrived. She was handcuffed and placed in the patrol unit. The reporting person said the female threw multiple rocks breaking a window and a glass door on the property. Another witness saw the female throwing rocks breaking the window and glass door. The female was transported and booked into SCDC.

Officers were called at 3:25 p.m. to the City of Socorro Rodeo and Sports Complex for a fight. The officers arrived and met with two males and a female. Male 1 said he was owed money by two others for food. The two groups were texting back and forth arranging for the money to be paid. Male 1 said the two that owed the money arrived and attacked male 2 and female 1. Female 1 had a bump on her head from the altercation and was pregnant. Male 2 said male 3 and female 2 arrived and also attacked them. The male and female left in a white truck and nearly ran over the female. The female said she was standing near the fence after the fight occurred when the male threatened to run over the female as he drove off. An ambulance was called to treat the female. The officers located the male and female. The female claimed she was making arrangements to pay males 1 and 2, and the two groups were arguing back and forth through text messages and voice calls. The female said female 1 texted a threat to have the money paid. She said she made a negative comment back and told the female not to threaten her. When the two groups arranged to meet to pay the money, the male and female arrived to pay and said they were attacked by males 1 and 2 along with the female. The male said he was pushed by male 2 and so he slapped male 2 back. The groups began fighting before separating. The male said he was able to enter his truck and the female was being followed by the 2 males and the female. The male said the female had to jump in through the driver’s door and he then left. The male said he did not try to run over the female. She was walking to the truck trying to fight with the female that was in the truck as he drove off. The officer was asked to have the text messages be provided for the report.

Aug. 22

Officers were advised at 6:29 a.m. of someone driving off in an ambulance at Socorro General Hospital. It was travelling north from the hospital and the officer pulled in behind the ambulance and attempted to complete a traffic stop using lights and sirens. The driver refused to stop and continued to flee from the officer; not stopping at posted stop signs or red-light traffic lights. The suspect was traveling over the posted speed limit, traveling onto Interstate 25. The officer called for a Sheriff’s deputy to take over the pursuit. A deputy arrived and continued as the primary officer. The officer followed the suspect to Belen where the Belen police officers were able to use a tire deflation device, Spike Strip, to disable the ambulance. The ambulance came to a stop and a female suspect was taken into custody. The suspect said a male was driving the ambulance. No other suspects were found in the ambulance. The female suspect was arrested.

An officer was called at 1:37 p.m. to El Camino Restaurant for an underage female consuming alcoholic beverages at the bar. The officer met with the underage female who admitted she consumed one drink at the bar and was not asked to show ID. She was advised charges will be filed and the officer asked which bartender served her. She pointed out the bartender. The officer advised the bartender of her rights. The bartender said she was not aware of the person being underage. She was then asked if she asked for an ID for the female and she said she did not. The suspect was advised charges were being filed and the female was released.

An officer was dispatched to a residence in the 900 block of School of Mines for a possible overdose. The officer arrived and met with the reporting party who pointed to a back room. The officer found a male on the bed, cold to the touch and deceased. OMI was called and the funeral home arrived a short time later taking possession of the body.

An officer was dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of School of Mines for a trespasser. The reporting party said he was cleaning up the yard of the owner and noticed a window that had been broken. The officer did not locate anyone in the residence or around the area. The reporting party told the officer he was going to secure the window with a board.

An officer was dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of Central Avenue for an argument. The officer was advised of a female taking a battery that was not hers. The male tried stopping her. The female claimed she had been battered. Officer did not see signs of battery. No charges will be filed.

An officer pulled over a car for a traffic stop at Spring and Central. The male and female suspects were asked to exit the vehicle and provided their names and dates of birth. During the stop, the officer spotted two syringes in the driver’s door. The officer recovered the syringes, one with a clear liquid.  The officer field-tested the clear substance and received a positive for methamphetamine. The female suspect was arrested. The officer located an ID for a male in a bag. He was asked if he provided the correct information and he said he did. The officer told him he was going to compare the NCIC photos, and the male advised he was the person on the ID and gave the name of a family member. The NCIC check showed the male had a warrant for his arrest. Both suspects were processed and booked into the SCDC. The officer later received a call from the Socorro County Sheriff who advised the female suspect was using her sister’s name. The officer and jail were able to identify the female suspect and show that she used the wrong name and DOB. The suspect was served with added charges.
