After a third-place finish in the state Class A state baseball tournament, it was no shocker that the District 1 1A all-district rosters are littered with Magdalena Steers.

The Steers Kaleb Castanon, Josh Baca, Joe Zamora, Josiah Candelaria, Javen Tafoya and Shane Montoya were all named as first-team selections. At the same time, the second team includes Ayden Herschbach, Daniel Martinez and Jayden Jaramillo.

Magdalena’s year included a regular season win against eventual state champion Melrose, a 6-0 mark in district, and the Steers’ first outright district championship since 2017.
