Socorro’s rodeo includes a full slate of local and professional athletes.

gins its two-day run as part of the Socorro County Fair and Rodeo on Sept. 1 and 2 at the Rodeo and Sports Complex.

The day/entry sheets for the rodeo were not completed at press time, but Socorro’s rodeo is expected to draw some of the county’s best talent and current PRCA professionals.

On Thursday, the rodeo is bookended by market shows for lambs, goats, breeding and dairy heifers, and steers.

Friday’s activities include market swine, judging of small stock and open small stock, round-robin showmanship, and the rodeo at 7 p.m.

A pancake breakfast (7-9:30 a.m.) proceeds a 10 a.m. parade on Saturday, followed by a chainsaw contest at 11:30 a.m. and a 4-H/FFA auction at 3 p.m. The PRCA rodeo’s second performance is set for 7 p.m.

On Sunday, there is a 9 a.m. pet parade and a 10 a.m. pee-wee rodeo.
