The Magdalena Steers baseball team is working to find its batting stroke after a 1-3 start but picked up their first-ever win against Menaul/Oak Grove 10-5 on March 27.

Joseph Zamora had the big day for the Steers, going 4-4 and having a double. The Steers had three other extra-base hits, with Matthew Lopez, Shane Montoya, and Javen Tafoya all smacking triples.

Ayden Herschbach, Lopez, and Jayden Piasso each collected three hits, while Montoy and Tafoya had two each to help the Steers total 18 pokes. Herschbach and Tafoya had two RBI and Josh Vigil, Lopez and Montoya had one RBI.

The Steers used three pitchers to tally the victory. Lopez hurled for five innings and sat down four batters, Zamora got one strikeout, and Herschbach closed it out.
Magdalena plays at home on Saturday with a 1 p.m. game against Lordsburg.
