With nearly 40 projects on Socorro’s Infrastructure Capital Improvements Project and just two more meetings for public comment, time is running out for citizens who wish to provide input.

During the City Council meeting on June 20, Mayor Ravi Bhasker pointed out the number of projects and encouraged the public to come and provide their comments.

Those dates are Wednesday, July 5, and Tuesday, July 18. Meetings are at City Council Chambers, City Hall, 111 School of Mines Road, beginning at 6 p.m.

After the July 18 public meeting, the council will rank the projects, and a final prioritized list will be determined. The deadline to submit this annual plan is Aug. 18. The ICIP is the yearly plan that establishes planning priorities for anticipated capital projects.

The New Mexico Legislature must approve any project in its January 2024 session. If approved, funding would be disbursed by July 1, 2024, for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
